ITINERARY:

Available from June through mid September, we offer the fabulous Gulf Island paddling week for which we are well known. We invite healthy, independent, and fun loving people to join us in all aspects of the kayak adventure - including daily trip planning and meal preparation. We describe ourselves as 'outfitters', and are not a fully catered operation. Meals are assigned and each paddler has 2-3 meals to prepare for the group during the trip. This makes for lots of fun and the guides can help with meal planning when you meet them on Sunday evening prior to the trip. You buy the ingredients for those assigned meals and carry them in your kayak, ready to go when it’s your turn. Our primary role is to outfit your trip, reduce risk, look after navigation and support, and enrich the group experience. Our guides have spent many seasons exploring the inner and outer coast of British Columbia (and Baja Mexico) and have strong interests in local natural history and the ecology of the surrounding area.

We encourage all paddlers to meet at 5:00 pm Sunday, at the Silva Bay General store to meet our guides and other paddlers and ensure meal assignments are prepared. This provides an opportunity to shop for your assigned meals if you have not already done so. The group often shares a refreshment at the Silva Bay Bar and Grill as they discuss interests and options for the week.

Kayak and trip orientation is at 9:30 a.m. Monday and departure follows to the Flat Top Islands and then on to the southern Gulf Islands. The specific route and camping sites will vary according to the group’s interests, weather, and local considerations. Typically the group will paddle south to the Southern Gulf Islands National Marine Park allowing sufficient time for an alternate return route.

The group will arrive back at Silva Bay by 5:00 pm on Friday evening to allow for departure planning.  We would be happy to assist you if you choose to extend your stay on Gabriola Island.

Costs:             $600.00 + tax
Monday though Friday; kayak, safety equipment, coffee/tea/water/cooking gear and basic spices
Gourmet lunch on first and last day
